LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) has given Sen. Jack Brandenburg the 2015 Mayor’s Cup Award for his outstanding contributions to the recreational boating industry in Michigan.
The awards presentation took place on Monday at the 57th annual Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Center.
“I’m flattered to be honored by such a respected organization,” said Brandenburg, R-Harrison Township. “Common-sense legislation such as ‘sales tax on the difference’ will help move the boating industry and Michigan forward, and I’m proud to have a part in passing the measure.”
The Mayor’s Cup Award started in 1984, and 31 individuals have been recognized since its inception. The list includes Michigan municipalities, elected officials, organizations and individuals that have made an outstanding contribution to recreational boating.
The Michigan Boating Industries Association is a nonprofit trade association representing more than 300 marine businesses and serves as the voice for Michigan’s $7.4 billion marine industry. MBIA is dedicated to the advancement, promotion and protection of recreational boating in Michigan.
